A World of Deities Dwelling in Nature

I am delighted to announce that, following last year, I will be participating in VOLTA Basel 2026.

The exhibition will be led by Nirvana Chapter 2, a major work from the Nirvana series that symbolizes Eisui’s artistic universe. The booth will also feature new works from the much-loved Baby series: Baby Nitten, Baby Gatten, Fuujunsei — Baby Fujin, and Fuujunsei — Baby Raijin.

For the new small works, I have created Unraveling, Collector of Light, and The Sage of the Forest. These pieces reveal a new softness unlike anything before, offering a glimpse into Eisui’s evolving expression of presence and atmosphere.

Another highlight of this exhibition is the presentation of a figurine work, which has already been drawing attention. The six-tusked white elephant depicted in the new work Where Dreams Go is one of the symbolic motifs of Buddhism, and now it appears as an adorable figurine, as if it had stepped out of the painting itself.

Painted using Eisui’s original technique, Dosaiga — earth-color painting — the figurine is both beautiful and exquisitely detailed, as though it has truly emerged from the artwork.

I have also been told that this year, once again, we will have a large booth on the main street of the fair, so I am very much looking forward to the exhibition.
