Painting
White Dragon Wave
Story
This work was created as a large sketch of the ‘White Dragon and Cherry Waves’, which was delivered to Myosho-ji Temple (Ichikawa City/Chiba) in 2024.
The White Dragon is said to fly the fastest among the dragon gods, so I took the White Dragon God as an energy body of light.
I also thought that when the White Dragon God, a body of light energy, moves, the water around him shines in rainbow colours, so I depicted a colourful and beautiful image of the White Dragon God.
The lines of the scales are drawn using a special technique.
Coloured foil and gold material are embedded in the clay and then carved out.
Therefore, depending on the time and angle of view, it shines as if it is covered with light particles.
In addition, the scales are expressed by pressing the tamamushi foil on each scale individually, then lightly covering the clay and finally sanding the scales slightly.
The dragon's overall shape is made in the shape of ♾️ to express the wish for lasting prosperity.
When it was exhibited at the Ueno Royal Museum Gallery, it was displayed as the main work with the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara at its centre, with the ‘White Dragon and Divine Waves’ on the left and ‘Phoenix Clouds’ on the right.
