Collector of Light
Story
In summer, jewel box appear along the mountain paths.
Countless scarabs gather around the droppings of wild animals, their bodies sparkling in the sunlight filtering through the trees.
You can find them everywhere in the forest.
It is one of the most beautiful sights of summer.
In ancient Egypt, scarabs were revered as sacred symbols of rebirth, resurrection, and creation, inspired by the way they roll dung like the sun across the sky—linked to the sun god Khepri.
For more than 4,000 years, they have been cherished as powerful talismans bringing protection and good fortune.
Perhaps what they are collecting are fragments of light spilled by the sun itself…
With that romantic thought in mind, I painted this work as a reflection of the beautiful order of nature.
