We held a Shabutsu (Buddha tracing) event at Enshōji Temple in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

This time, it was a special Shabutsu session where participants could also experience coloring their tracings. While drawing each line, everyone focused their full attention and practiced meditative line drawing by regulating their breath. During the coloring part, however, everyone relaxed and enjoyed a warm and cheerful time chatting with smiles.

Adding color really brings out each person’s individuality, resulting in a beautiful variety of colorful artworks. Although they are not in the final group photo, elementary and middle school children also participated, enjoying the nurturing and peaceful atmosphere unique to Enshōji Temple.

Enshōji holds these Shabutsu events twice a year, during the spring and autumn equinox periods.

We look forward to seeing everyone’s bright faces again next year.
