Hello, welcome to Eisui’s world!
“Hayakawa”, the smallest town in Japan, situated in Yamanashi prefecture, is where my studio is located. Here, at the foot of the Southern Alps, in the lap of Mother Nature, I have been wielding my brushes, blissfully relaxed.
It is quiet here, far from the hustle bustle of a city, surrounded by an environment, which may be appropriately called mysterious. You can feel the transition of the four seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter – clearly, with your five senses. Having been living in such a place, I have come across several occasions which made me come to the conclusion that human beings have been fostered and kept alive by nature, just as other animals.
Mother Nature has had a great influence not only on my life, but also on my works. Owing to such inspirations from Nature, my artwork is characterized by rich and spontaneous colors as well as grand compositions.
I create every single piece of work with care, in a manner most consistent with each of my client’s wishes – this is what I value most importantly. I hope, sincerely, that every piece of my work will create an opportunity for a large number of people to visit the temples of Japan.
What I value…
What I consider most important is to pour my heart out into a single piece of work according to clients’ desired location and specifications. It’s important for me to make unique productions by receiving specific requests directly from clients and identifying actual installation positions.
On the basis of inspirations received through the photographs of installation location and the communication over phone and/or through e-mails from clients, I let my imagination run in pursuit of their dreams, especially when I am unable to see the location with my own eyes and when creating order-made smaller productions,
You may wish…
to display the work as a decorative item in your shop or home.
to order original Hikidemono (a kind of gift from the host to guests) at Buddhist memorial services.
to dedicate the work to a temple as a memorial service for ancestors.
I always place utmost importance on careful and sincere communication with clients so that their ideas are fully conveyed to me.

About the materials and media used
Various kinds of media, like watercolors, oil paint, color pencils, acrylic paint and so on, including traditional Japanese drawing materials, are used to meet each client’s perception.
Acrylic paint, especially, is my forte, and it can be painted on items made from wood, cloth, stone, metal, glass and a host of other materials. Also, acrylic paint allows the style of paintings to change freely with different painting techniques.
Unlike other media, acrylic paint does not have a long history and has not gained general recognition; however it is an excellent medium with a high light and moisture resistance. Furthermore, a special coating to the surface as its finish enables not only to protect the work against damage and tarnishing, but also allows it to be cleaned easily by wiping with a damp cloth.
This versatile medium allows a variety of application – on small objects such as pieces of furniture and articles of daily use including wooden swords, book holders and screens, and also on larger ones including ceiling art and murals at Buddhist temples. It also has a long shelf life, maintaining a stable quality, and may be preserved and used after long-term keeping.
Watch the colors come alive – Enjoy Eisui at work!
You can find me at work on the official Facebook page of “Eisui”.
I draw again and again till I get a satisfactory line, and layer many colors to create a complex color which may look like one single color.
By viewing the process of such work in real time, you can enjoy waiting until your order arrives.
I think that it is the price that everyone is worried about when making it to order.
I, as Eisui, always work as per each client’s need, which means that the form of each product varies and requires many different materials. So it’s difficult to make a standard price list.
However, prices shown in this website for some of my works may be helpful for you to have an idea.
Prices vary according to images, decorations and paints chosen for each piece. Therefore, please feel free to let me know your preferences including image and budget. I would like to seek the best way to fit your exact need with budget through frank interaction.
Some prices for original saleable works that I hold are shown in the page of “Works” within this website for your reference. If you are interested in any of them, please feel free to contact me and visit the studio to look at the actual works. Purchasing decisions can be made after seeing them yourself.
